In this digital age many people have lost sight of the beauty of the printed image. Photographs by Drum Hill Studios are more than pixels, they are heirloom quality works of art deserving of a special place in your home. I use special software to show you exactly what your photos will look like on your wall. In order to show you your images on your wall, I'll need a photo of your wall to use in the software. Here are a few tips for getting me the best photo possible.

How to Photograph Your Wall

Step 1

Tape a standard letter-size sheet of paper (8.5" × 11") to each wall where you're considering displaying your portraits.

Step 2

Using your camera, smartphone, or tablet, take a horizontal photo of each wall from a comfortable viewing distance. In most rooms, this will be from across the room, unless the space is especially large.

For the most accurate sizing, please:

  • Take the photo straight-on (not at an angle).
  • Leave the 8.5" × 11" sheet of paper visible on the wall.
  • Include surrounding features such as:
    • Furniture
    • Windows
    • Doorways
    • The floor and/or ceiling

These reference points help me accurately recommend the best artwork size for your space.

Step 3

Once you've photographed all the walls where you're considering artwork, simply reply to my email and attach the photos. I'll use them to create a custom wall art preview and recommend the ideal sizes for your home.
