As a family photographer based in Martinsville, NJ, I’m drawn to locations that feel both elegant and organic. Cross Estate Gardens is one of the most beautiful spots in New Jersey for family portraits, with manicured gardens, winding paths, open fields, and historic charm that create a peaceful, timeless setting.

We began during golden hour, my favorite time to photograph, when soft, warm light adds a natural glow and brings movement and warmth to every image. But the session was going so well that we continued into blue hour—a brief, magical window just after sunset when the sky deepens into rich blue tones. The cooler, softer light allowed us to capture quiet moments, silhouettes, and a more cinematic mood.
