Senior year is the culmination of a childhood filled with milestones, memories, and moments that somehow went by far too quickly. As parents watch their seniors turn the corner toward adulthood, they’re secretly wishing they could slow time down.
While we can’t stop time, we can capture a little piece of it. Senior portraits should capture more than what they look like at seventeen or eighteen. They should capture who they are.
But teens aren’t always comfortable in front of the camera. As a former awkward teenager myself, I’m sympathetic. 😂 Being told to “just relax” doesn’t exactly make you feel relaxed.
My goal isn’t to force a pose that doesn’t feel like them. I’ll give them direction, keep things relaxed, and help them feel comfortable enough to let their guard down. We’ll talk, laugh, move around, and take breaks when needed. Often, the best images happen in those in-between moments when they’ve stopped thinking about the camera.
The result is a collection of images that feel natural, confident, and genuinely them.
If you’re planning senior portraits in Northern or Central New Jersey, I’d love to hear from you!
