Every session begins with a simple goal: to create something honest, beautiful, and true to the people in front of the camera. For me that means taking the time to help each client feel comfortable so the experience feels natural from start to finish.
Family sessions often include grandparents, and when they do, I make it a priority to capture those special generational connections. During every family session, I try to photograph as many meaningful combinations as possible. That includes Mom and Dad with the children, grandparents with the grandchildren, individual portraits of each child, sibling portraits, and multi-generational groupings. I also look for opportunities to capture the quieter interactions—a grandparent holding a grandchild’s hand, a shared laugh between siblings, or a parent’s proud smile while watching their children.
My goal is to create a gallery that tells the complete story of a family at this moment in their lives. By capturing a variety of groupings and genuine connections, I can provide images that celebrate not only each individual family member but also the relationships that tie them all together. Years from now, these photographs will serve as a reminder of the love, laughter, and bonds that made this time so special.
I always make time to photograph Mom and Dad together. So often the focus is on the children, but parents deserve beautiful portraits that celebrate their own relationship and the life they've built together.
During this part of the session, I focused on the boys, capturing individual portraits, special moments between Dad and his sons, and a meaningful three-generation portrait of Granddad, Dad, and the boys together.
The years pass more quickly than we expect, and every family changes with time. Taking the opportunity to document multiple generations together creates a lasting record of the people and relationships that matter most.
